A Naughty Dog artist has posted images of a post-apocalyptic Europe, but are they just a pet project or a hint of a new game?
Although they’ve occasionally hinted at it, officially Naughty Dog has no plans for a sequel to The Last Of Us – which is released for the first time this week on PlayStation 4.
Given the success of the game a follow-up of some kind is inevitable but the problem is that Ellie and Joel’s story seems already to have been told, and these images suggest that Naughty Dog may be thinking of exploring a completely new set of characters on a different continent.
That or they’re just an artist having fun, trying to imagine what a post-apocalyptic, London, Paris, and Rome looks like.
In other The Last Of Us news, last night saw Naughty Dog put on a live performance of the game’s story scenes, which in a special treat included a whole new epilogue cut from the game.
Obviously don’t read any further if you don’t want to be subjected to any spoilers, but the gist of it is as follows:

The epilogue is set some years after the actual ending and finds the pair living back at Tommy’s dam. Joel is dating again and gives Ellie a guitar as a present. He then starts to teach her a song that he seems to have originally written for Sarah.
It was meant to end the game on a more happy, less ambiguous, note but we have to say we prefer things as they are. Although interestingly the scene was referred to as a ‘goodbye’ to Ellie and Joel, perhaps implying that they really won’t be in any sequel.
