New video game peripheral FeelReal can emit seven different smells, blow hot air, and squirt your face with water – but is that something you’d want?
Considering how many games have a sewer level we’re not sure a peripheral that recreates the smells of whatever game you’re playing is necessarily a good idea.
But thanks to the FeelReal device at least now you have the choice.
Although it might look like a speaker in the photos the FeelReal is actually a sort of mask that straps over the lower part of your face when wearing any virtual reality helmet – thereby completely cutting you off from the real world.

Website The Verge had a go and they don’t seem to have enjoyed it very much, especially when it purposefully turned off the coolers in order to make you hot.
The FeelReal can also generate a fine mist in your face and has a built-in microphone. The seven smells it can generate are ocean, jungle, fire, grass, powder (we assume gun powder), flowers, flowers, and metal.
The official website quotes a price of $249.99 (£166), which doesn’t include the little disposable cartridges that contain the smells. Although it only mentions four of these, not seven.
