PlayStation Now – coming to the UK now-ish

A private beta trial of PS4’s streaming service will start soon in the UK, with PS3 games such as The Last Of Us and DiRT 3.

Sony always said the UK would be the first place in Europe to get PlayStation Now, and they seem to be making good on their promise.

There’s still no exact date of when the private beta trial will start, but technically speaking this Friday is the first day of spring. So hopefully it should be in the next couple of weeks.

PlayStation Now uses Gaikai’s cloud gaming technology to run PlayStation 3 games via the cloud, without the need for any downloads. The service officially went live in the US in January, but because of the 5 Mbps Internet connection needed it may be a while till the rest of Europe gets it.

The beta will only work on the PlayStation 4, but the final version of PlayStation Now should also work on PlayStation 3, PS Vita, PlayStation TV, and certain Sony BRAVIA televisions.

Some newer Samsung TVs will also be compatible and in the future the plan is to support PS one, PlayStation 2, PSP, and even PlayStation 4 games.

For now though the private beta includes only the following games:

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
The Last Of Us
God of War: Ascension
Rayman Legends
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon
Saints Row: The Third – The Full Package
Just Cause 2
The Walking Dead
DiRT 3

To have a chance to take part just click here and sign-up. The beta is free at first, but Sony have warned they will be ‘testing’ various pricing models as it continues.
