Square Enix has unveiled the first official gameplay footage from the new Deus Ex game, alongside the Deus Ex Universe app.
The reveal didn’t go quite as smoothly as they must have planned, but Square Enix has now officially acknowledged the existence of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided – the follow-up to 2011’s Human Revolution.
As reported yesterday the game will be released only on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC (which will support both DirectX 12 and AMD’s TressFX). But currently the game has no scheduled release date.
The game will once again cast you as the cybernetically augmented Adam Jensen, who is now working for Interpol and helping to track down cyborg terrorists – against a backdrop of increasing fear and hatred towards ‘transhumans’ in general.
The trailer, which seems to be mostly pre-rendered CGI, doesn’t really add much to that, except to underline that Jensen himself is likely to be feeling mixed loyalties over the whole situation. There’s also the hint of multiple locations around the world, including what seems to be Paris, Hong Kong, and Russia.
Yesterday there was also talk of new stealth and combat options, including the ability to remote hack electronic objects, fire a nano blade from a distance, and use a nigh-indestrubibtle nanoshield.
The trailer mentions a new Deus Ex Universe app, which at the moment is offering a free download of the trailer music.
