Harry Potter himself is in talks to portray one of the heads of Rockstar Games, as the BBC looks for someone to play Jack Thompson.
Despite being responsible for one of the most successful entertainment products in history brothers Sam and Dan Houser are almost unknown to the general public, and always try to avoid publicity wherever possible.
As such we can’t really say whether Daniel Radcliffe is a good choice or not to portray Sam Houser, but he is at least a good actor – and it suggests that the BBC’s upcoming drama, about the creation of Grand Theft Auto, is a going to be pretty big budget affair.
The show was announced a few weeks ago and Radcliffe’s involvement isn’t yet confirmed, although the Hollywood Reporter suggests he is in negotiations.
According to them the drama will focus on Sam Houser and Miami lawyer Jack Thompson, which seems a bit disappointing as Thompson was a pretty one-dimensional anti-games lobbyist who was eventually disbarred for professional misconduct.
This presumably also means the film will focus on the furore surrounding the Hot Coffee mod for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, so it’s unclear whether the early days of the series will be featured and if anyone will playing franchise creator Dave Jones.
The film is to be directed by Black Mirror and Misfits veteran Owen Harris, with a script by Rev. co-creator James Woods (so, not the James Woods).
Although the part of Jack Thompson is yet to be cast shooting begins on April 20, so presumably the film won’t be released until much later in the year.
