Just Cause 3 – don’t try this at home

The first proper look at open world actioner Just Cause 3 has just appeared online, and it shows a major upgrade in graphics since the last one.

The Just Cause games have always been known for their huge, and highly destructible, open world environments but the actual graphics themselves have never been the main draw. But that looks about to change if this new trailer is anything to go by.

The level of detail is very impressive given that almost everything in the game can be blown up, destroyed, or otherwise put out of guarantee.

You can clearly see the game’s signature grappling hook, which can attach to almost any in-game object, in action in the trailer, as well as skydiving into moving aircraft and taking them over mid-air; which unlikely as it seems is a series staple.

Whether you actually count any of this as actual in-game footage though is debatable, as it’s clearly all been carefully orchestrated, but that’s modern trailers for you.

Just Cause 3 doesn’t have a confirmed release date yet but is currently down as Christmas 2015, although as you can see the inevitable pre-order campaign has already begun.

Swedish developer Avalanche Studios are also working on fellow open world game Mad Max, which is due out on September 4.
