When I was a kid in the ’80s my older brother bought a NES in 1988. Up until this point we were into Commodore and Spectrum games. However, the NES completely blew us away in what to expect from games. There was a spin-off guide which CV+G released at the time called Mean Machines: A Complete Guide To Consoles (I still have three issues to this day). This was an encyclopaedia for all console games at the time and a summary of all games for each system.
